Jordan Young

Principal, South Whidbey Elementary School and ALE

Jordan is honored to serve as the Principal of South Whidbey Elementary and the Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) program.

Her educational career includes five years of administrative experience in Washington and Arizona, along with classroom and leadership experience spanning grades 5 through 12. Working with students across elementary, middle, and high school has given her a broad perspective on student growth and the importance of supporting learners at every stage of their educational journey.

Jordan earned a bachelor's degree in Environmental Science and Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, as well as a master's degree in Secondary Science Education and a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Arizona State University.

Jordan is passionate about creating a positive, inclusive school culture where every student feels valued, challenged, and supported. She believes strong relationships with students, staff, families, and the community are the foundation of a thriving school. Through collaboration, she is committed to fostering an environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Originally from Lake Stevens, Jordan has deep roots in Washington. After her extended family moved to Whidbey Island in 2018, she looked forward to the opportunity to one day return closer to home. Following the birth of her daughter in 2023, that opportunity became a priority, and she was excited to move to Whidbey Island to raise her daughter surrounded by family and in the close-knit community she is proud to now serve. Jordan looks forward to partnering with students, staff, and families as they learn, grow, and celebrate success together.

Kristin Codda 

Assistant Principal, South Whidbey Elementary School and ALE

Kristin Codda has been a proud member of the South Whidbey community since relocating from California with her family in 2012. Her career began in Early Childhood Education—a 15-year foundation working with young learners and families that sparked her lifelong passion for elementary education.

She taught in elementary classrooms for 11 years—including 5 years at SWES—building an approach centered on inclusive, equitable support for the whole child. Kristin holds a B.A. in Special Education & Elementary Education, an M.S. in Curriculum & Instruction, and earned her Principal Certificate through Eastern Washington University’s Educational Leadership Program in 2025. Driven by a desire to uplift students, families, and staff, she is proud to serve the school community in administrative leadership
